Beijing has imposed new rules on religious groups in China in an effort to force the groups into reporting all financial transactions.
With the Chinese government interfering even more in the affairs of religious groups, China’s State Religious Affairs Administration has issued financial accounting rules which will give authorities more power over religious activities.
Religions were banned for decades in China, although the constitution now recognises the principle of freedom of religion.
Religious groups are still expected to operate within state-sanctioned entities, which are managed by government officials.
The government officials are able to exercise unilateral power over the groups, including the right to appoint top clergy in all denominations.
From now on, all religious institutions will need to hire accountants and auditors to file annual financial reports to the authorities.
The government has said the rules are designed to
supervise church finances and help prevent misappropriation of funds.
Religious officials believe the authorities simply want to control their activities through constant supervision of their finances.

By the way the Incas had a massive civil war that all but decimated their culture.
The Mayan cultures where perverted with massive human sacrifice they in essence also killed the best and the brightest in huge numbers.

After one more expedition in 1529, Pizarro returned to Spain and received royal approval to conquer the Inca region and become its viceroy.

Hernando de Soto was sent inland to explore the interior; he returned with an invitation to meet Atahualpa, who had defeated his half brother in the civil war and was resting at Cajamarca with his army of 80,000 troops.
Some of these cultures were already in decline prior to the Euopean introduction of small pox and disease. |

con & fraud prevention - step in the right directionThe morality of the religious people should be held by the govt at a higher level if their product is spirituality and targeted customers are citizens of the nation. Financial clarity is ground zero. Many religions have more levels of moral clarity to go before they can be considered as mature and sound packages that can safely be delivered to the public. Defective products should be recalled but where are the checks and balances? It is a national security issue if the citizens are misdirected and exploited by spiritual authorities who are actually crooks and predators - wolves with sheep skins. It is therefore the govt’s job to sort out the sheep from the wolves on behalf of its people. Freedom of religion is not a carte blanc for religions to have the freedom to exploit the minds and pockets of the public in the name of religion. It is the govt’s obligations to protect its citizens and to strike a sound human balance in the religious businesses, as long as religions are run by human beings. |

I personally have not considered your arguments before, maybe because Governemnts are so hard to keep honest.

That is why there are so many underground churches in China.
Communism is a scourge and a great evil. It tolerates no dissent and it will crush any deviation from the party line. The perversion of evil is, that within it, there are always some grains of truth. Communism is dictatorial and it should be cleansed off the face of the earth and fortunately that day will come. Unfortunately evil will always exist and it will then manifest itself in different ways. |

I have been to China and people there are mostly happy and have the right to express themselves and prosper! The current leaders are people friendly and moving towards a great soceity.. there are no guarantees in any model of goverment, but education of people and teaching them to think is our greatest hope for a better world |

dear unregisteredI am sure that you are not naive, but you must be living in an alternate universe. I wish you were right, but you have not studied history. People in China do not wisely speak about politics, because they remember their history. They are just focussed on making money. There are many underground churches, including the catholic church, which is a mainstream church. Dissenters end up in jail, or with a bullet in the head. There is no freedom of expression in China, as we know it in the West. There are many riots in China and a lot of corruption. That all does not mean that there are no happy Chinese. But the truth is what it is! |

It is true there are chinese dissenters in the USA and Canada and that shows you my point. In the West you can politically dissent and live a normal life. In China you end up in jail, or with the pressure from the West, they will be kicked out of China and live here peacefully, while expressing their opposition. Americans and Canadians that disagree with their governmental policies can demonstrate, scream and stand on their heads and all that is perfectly tolerated as an expression of a free democracy.
