Hospitality industry has organised a-three day special safety training workshop in Shimla to offer better service to the guests visiting the State during the Commonwealth Games.

Shimla Hoteliers Association in collaboration with Tourism Industry Stakeholder welfare Society and Himachal Pradesh Civil Defence have organized the workshop in order to train and make the hotel staff aware about the safety, security and hospitality service.

Participants believe that arrangements for safety of tourists especially if they are coming in large numbers is a very important aspect of the hospitality business.

"This kind of trainings really helps people to be focused on safety also when they think about the guests. So that way it is a very good training I would say for the staff, who are attending it," said Pradeep Kartiken.

"I think it is very important, since we are hoteliers and we have guests keep coming in over here. So there can be any sort of an emergency like a guest can fall down, he can trip down or he can have a fracture or fire anything. So for that, it is very important that all our staff is trained into it," said Joshika.

India is expecting about two million tourists in New Delhi for the Games, as well as about 10,000 athletes from 71 teams representing 54 Commonwealth member states.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games is India's biggest sporting event since the 1982 Asian Games. (ANI)
